Family Campout History

PPCA has been a key partner in late summer Northwest Regional Peace Corps Campouts since 1991. Since those take us all over Idaho, Oregon, and Washington, we added early summer Local Campouts to our annual calendar in 2009. The campouts are open to all our members and friends, but we changed the event name to Family Campout in 2016 to reflect the family-friendly nature of this annual activity. Our Family Campouts are always within a few hours drive of Portland.

Our 1st annual Local Campout was held in June 2009 at Indian Henry campground, up the Clackamas River from Estacada, Oregon.

Our 2nd annual Local Campout was held in June 2010 at Champoeg State Heritage Area, birthplace of the State of Oregon.

Our 3rd annual Local Campout was held in July 2011 at Beacon Rock State Park, gateway to the Washington side of the Columbia Gorge.
