Guidelines for Grant Proposals - Thank you for your interest in the CRPCA Grant Program. We hope these guidelines will assist you in writing and submitting your proposal to us. We consider grant proposals at three of our general meetings per year: February, June and October. At these meetings, each current grant proposal is presented to the entire group and discussed. At the end of the discussion, the group decides which grant(s) to fund.

In 2010, CRPCA members collectively indicated an interest in funding the following types of grants:

Projects from sponsors who have a connection to Oregon or southwest Washington
Projects similar to those experienced in the Peace Corps
Projects that are education-based
Projects that are objective-based and have measurable results
Projects that are sustainable
Projects that benefit women and children
Projects that empower the recipients
Projects that improve people's lives
Projects that meet a community need

Since we are a small program (we fund approximately 6 grants per year, usually $500-$1,000 per grant) we prefer to support programs where our grant will be a substantial portion of the total amount needed for your project. Please keep in mind that these are guidelines. The more like them your project is, the more likely we will fund it. But every so often we come across a project that is a really good idea and not like these guidelines, and we fund it.

Grantmaking Procedures - Funding recommendations are made by a vote of all members present at the Board meeting which coincides with the grant giving cycle. Prior to the meeting, a summary of all grant applications is posted to the CRPCA website, along with links to the application materials, for members to review in preparation for the vote. At the meeting, we invite project sponsors to make 2-3 minute presentations (your or your representative's appearance is optional). Grant recipients are notified within one week of the decision and awards are posted to the CRPCA website and included in the CRPCA newsletter. If awarded funding, the recipient will be required to sign a contract with CRPCA regarding the use of the funds and submit an impact report upon completion of the project. Recipients are encouraged to submit photos related to the project, and to share their project experience with CRPCA members at one of our Potluck gatherngs.

How to Apply - To solicit funds from CRPCA please submit the CRPCA Grant Application (Word document) along with a spreadsheet or similar document showing how the money is to be used. By our application deadline, send the electronic documents to our Grants Coordinator Richard Rystrom at grants@crpca.org. Then initial each page and sign the signature page, and mail the hard copies to Richard Rystrom, 3501 Division Ave, Vancouver, WA 98660. If you have questions, please contact Richard directly.

Special note to current Peace Corps Volunteers - We understand that you may need to conform to specific Peace Corps requirements in applying for and receiving grants from outside organizations such as ours. We will make every effort to accommodate those needs in funding your grant if it is approved by our membership.
