In the beginning there was the Portland Peace Corps Service Organization. Our predecessor organization was founded by Peace Corps parents rather than Returned Peace Corps Volunteers. Their twelve bulletins were prepared for first semi-annual gatherings and later annual gatherings that were held between 1965 and 1972. They consist of lists updating event attendees on the whereabouts and doings of the RPCVs in the Portland area. For those of us who weren’t around back then, they’re a fascinating read into the zeitgeist of the late 1960s and early 1970s. Careful readers will notice the first mentions of familiar names who in later decades took leadership roles in RPCVO and CRPCA.
